Career

At a very young age, in May of 2002, I started working at my Grandfather's shoe store, Simpson's Shoes, in my hometown of Litchfield, Illinois. As a sales associate I was responsible for various tasks including stocking of the inventory, helping customers, running the cash register, and any necessary cleaning.

After he closed his store in the summer of 2003, I proceeded to work at a local pizza and ice cream shop called Pizza Man and Ice Cream Man. While working there I gained valuable people skills as well as knowledge in money handling and organizational skills. In the fall of 2005, I was offered a job as a teller at the Bank and Trust Company in Litchfield.

As a Customer Service Representative, I dealt with transactions for various customers and answered any questions dealing with financial matters. I learned extensive information relating to the banking business including bookkeeping and loan disbursements. For the two years I worked there, I honed my social skills and matured in terms of my work ethic which prompted me to further my large spectrum of jobs by becoming a server for Ruby Tuesday.

While serving at Ruby Tuesday I helped customers to their tables, took their order, and helped out in many various ways in order to meet their needs while dining at the restaurant. I developed great multitasking skills along with honing my social skills.

In October 2009, I was again offered a job which I felt would provide me with new experiences that I could utilize later in life. I began working at the Early Childhood Center on SIUE's campus. As an assistant teacher, I help children from ages 2-5 learn, create, and explore by implementing various teaching methods, games, and personal support. I currently work at the ECC and love every minute of it. It is absolutely fullfilling to see the children grow and mature in their young age. To see where the enter at age 3 and how they leave at age 5 is remarkable. Though my time at the center will be coming to a close once I graduate, it has taught me a lot about myself and about children, and how to properly help them succeed in their learning.

After graduation, I hope to attend Graduate school to further specialize myself in the field of Public Relations. Ideally, I would like to work in Fashion PR on either the East or West Coast; or I would also like to work for a magazine like GQ, Interview or Architechtural Digest.
